Is it necessary to use DDU?

Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a driver removal tool that can help you completely remove AMD (ATI), NVIDIA and Intel graphics drivers.

Is it necessary to use DDU?

Post by drewdavis »

I am currently upgrading my GPU from a NVIDIA to AMD, and I have read many post that to transition it is best to use DDU to have a clean slate for my new AMD GPU. I was wondering if this was the best way to switch or is there any other way? (gtx 1650 to rx 6600)

It is really recommended to do so.
If you want to avoid using it, you have to uninstall the Nvidia stuff via add/remove program (or what ever it is named depending on what O.S you are) and then you can switch to AMD.

If after that you see some issue, it is not too late to do a DDU run even after switching GPU. You will still have the option to clean NVidia
